Senator Ted Kennedy has affirmed his support for the public option in health care reform in signing the resolution, which was just introduced onto the Senate floor that health care reform MUST include a public option. Now what kind of a public option it'll be is the question we'll be fighting to answer, and to our satisfaction as well.

Looking back and looking forward.

It's 2009.  In fact, it's several days into 2009.  So much to look back at and so much to look forward to.  In these times of human rights violations worldwide, health access issues at home (wherever home is, as access issues seem pretty universal), increased toxins in our neighborhoods, greater isolation from our communities, and our historical amnesia, there's a silver lining.  There must always be a silver lining, otherwise...

Oh yes, and music.  There must always be beautiful music.

Back to the silver lining. For now we'll refer to it as a few things:  hope / inspiration / innovation / revolution.  These are happening at the local level, inside us, in the big picture, and in our memories.  Let's hold on to it -- what we remember positively of 2008, and what we look forward to together in 2009.

Here's to good health in 2009.

About
What is health justice? How are health & human rights fiercely connected to the wellness of our neighborhoods? How do we reframe policy debates? How do we continue dreaming and building instead of just reacting & surviving? And how do we support each other in our healing?
